Obituary


Eleanor Devlin, the third of four daughters born to the late Mary (Murray) and William Johnston on May 16th 1912,: passed away on March 21, 2015. She waited for springtime. Eleanor was married to the late Arthur Devlin and, predeceased as well by her sisters Marie Johnson, Sally Boeringer and nephew, Edward W. Malin. Eleanor is survived by her beloved sister, Gertrude Malin; devoted nephew William Malin; nieces Mary Ann (Roy) Elberfeld, Judy (McCarthey) Malin and Jeanne (William) Ellis. She also leaves her great nieces & nephews- Mary Ann, Anissa, Edward, Sean, Ryan, Jennifer and...

Eleanor Devlin, the third of four daughters born to the late Mary (Murray) and William Johnston on May 16th 1912,: passed away on March 21, 2015. She waited for springtime. Eleanor was married to the late Arthur Devlin and, predeceased as well by her sisters Marie Johnson, Sally Boeringer and nephew, Edward W. Malin. Eleanor is survived by her beloved sister, Gertrude Malin; devoted nephew William Malin; nieces Mary Ann (Roy) Elberfeld, Judy (McCarthey) Malin and Jeanne (William) Ellis. She also leaves her great nieces & nephews- Mary Ann, Anissa, Edward, Sean, Ryan, Jennifer and Andrew as well as 14 great-great nieces & nephews.
Eleanor is known to be the second longest parishioner at St. Matthias R.C. Church, where she was baptised & married. She was also involved with their Girl Scout program for over 50 years. In addition, Eleanor was part of the family business- Maria Johnston Art Shop on Fresh Pond Rd.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday (March 25th) 10:45am at St. Matthias. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (Brooklyn, NY).
